Before you begin

Determine the exact mounting location of each component first. Plan nice, smooth runs for every cable. Run a length of wire or string along the actual route, then measure it.

Batteries

Set them up in the location and orientation they'll be installed. Factor smooth runs up to the terminals and how boxes or enclosures affect them. Side post batteries limit multi-cable connections — Top Post or Top/Side Post are preferred.

Power Distribution Block

Cables from the batteries run to a block under the hood for distribution to the starter, accessories, etc. Locate it away from heat, on the same side of the vehicle as the starter.

Battery Disconnect Switch

For timed events, know your sanctioning body's rules — the switch MUST be located per the rule book and MUST disable a running vehicle (we'll handle that part). A push/pull bar like our Moroso 74105 Push/Pull Battery Disconnect Mounting Kit cuts cable length, weight, resistance, and cost.
