General Information about Sizing
Any size followed by a “/0” is referred to as that number and then aught – so, 1/0 AWG is 1 aught. Aught is an old English term for “zero” so:
- 1/0 AWG = 0 AWG = #0 = 1/0 = 1 aught
- 2/0 AWG = 00 AWG = #00 = 2/0 = 2 aught
- 3/0 AWG = 000 AWG = #000 = 3/0 = 3 aught
- 4/0 AWG = 0000 AWG = #0000 = 4/0 = 4 aught
Cable sizes get larger with more zeroes! And yes, zero gauge is in fact 1/0 AWG. AWG simply denotes that the cable meets or exceeds the American Wire Gauge standards.
Now, 4 AWG is easily confused with 4/0 AWG as some folks pronounce the abbreviation AWG as aug, which they confuse with aught. 2 AWG easily confused with 2/0 AWG, 1 AWG easily confused with 1/0 AWG, etc. So, keep the following in mind:
- 4/0 AWG is SIX sizes larger than 4 AWG!
- 2/0 AWG is THREE sizes larger than 2 AWG!
- 1/0 AWG is ONE size larger than 1 AWG!

Great cable! I have used the 8,6,4,2, and 1/0 AWG in several car audio builds. High quality product that is very flexible and easy to work with. Same cable used in their custom cable builder. I have ordered several custom made cables and they are always made to spec and shipped fast. If you’re looking for quality products, fast shipping and great customer service look no further.

Fantastic quality cable, very fine strands and flexible. After replacement of all grounds, battery and starter cables with this cable and CE eyelets, there were several runs where my voltmeter would only register a few milli-volts on voltage drop testing. Some voltage drops are a tenth of what they were before installing this cable. Tony was very helpful with some questions and solutions. Fast shipping also.

Used the 4 gauge wire to replace all of the grounds on my 2005 Dodge Neon. Very beefy wire but still very flexible, and easy to work with. I have not had any problems out of them since. It has been a few months since the upgrade.

An “A Plus” superior cable. The quality is equivalent to the JL Audio and Stinger OFC cables that I have used in my past installs. You choose your specified length and size but at a bargain price that will beat the other name brand companies. Promptly packed and shipped the same day I ordered. I highly recommend CE Auto Electric Supply company for it’s immediate communications and status updates.”

Hands down the highest quality cable we’ve used. The 2/0 ga. is just as flexible as the 8 GA. Very high strand count. Head and shoulders above the welding cable we used to us.
Don’t waste your time with any other cable, you won’t find anything to compete.
