This battery cable kit has been developed, designed, and tested in-house to be a perfect fit the 1988-1994 Chevrolet and GMC OBS trucks and SUVs with the 4.6L V6, 5.0L V8, 5.7L V8, and 7.4L V8 gas engines! We eliminated cost cutting measures and built the very best kit we could. Unlike the originals, we elected to dress the positive cables with our Hi-Temperature Wire Covering as they pass by the exhaust manifold to ensure predictable starts – no matter how hot!
We offer these kits in 4 AWG (stock size), 2 AWG (61% more copper), and 1 AWG (double the copper). See below for specifics on each as it applies to performance you can expect! We also provide the OEM equivalent part numbers and a fitment guide below so that you can easily choose the correct kit for your vehicle!

In-Vehicle Performance
Only CE Auto Electric Supply tests and analyzes cable sets to ensure you get all the performance you may expect. While the stock cable set on the truck we used for development (an Arizona truck) was actually in excellent condition given its age, we were still able to improve upon it – of course! The test vehicle was a 1993 Silverado 1500 with the 5.7L V8. In this vehicle:
Our 4 AWG Cable Set provides 5.4% more current and 6.3% more cranking power than the stock cables!
Our 2 AWG Cable Set provides 9% more current and 12% more cranking power than the stock cables!
Our 1 AWG Cable Set provides nearly identical performance to the 2 AWG set, proving that the law of diminishing returns is a factor for the 5.7L V8 in stock form. However, this would be an excellent upgrade for vehicles with the 7.4L V8, performance enhancements to the smaller engines, or those of you in very cold climates.
If your cable set is worn out or your vehicle is from an area known for salt use on the roads in the winter, you can expect even greater performance gains!
So, where does this additional power come from? By using better cable and components we can reduce voltage drop to the starter. By doing so, we’ve converted power wasted as heat into power that can be used to spin the starter. Our 2 AWG Cable Set was good for an only 3.5% voltage drop during cranking!
