These kits fit 2003- 2009 Gen 3 Dodge Trucks with the various 5.9L or 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel Engines. These trucks originally came with dual batteries. We offer kits specific to the 2003-2005 trucks as well as kits specific to the 2006-2009 trucks.
Stock Cable size is 1/0 AWG. Our 1/0 AWG Kits offer improved cranking power and performance over stock cables, especially worn out ones (see below for more on that). Our 2/0 AWG Kits and now 3/0 AWG kits offer even greater cranking power and performance – perfect for modified trucks! We offer them all. Parts list and specifications listed below.
Some 2007-2009 trucks require a 90-degree eyelet on the starter cable – view the last photo and compare to your truck before ordering! All 2003-2005 trucks use straight eyelets.

These Cable Kits are made to fit your truck perfectly! All kits include Military Style Battery Terminals – won’t crack or break like the original lead terminals!
2002-2005 Kits also include the following:
- Driver’s Side Positive Battery Cable Assy – loomed 1/0 AWG (or 2/0 AWG or 3/0 AWG) cable to the starter, loomed 4 AWG cable to the PDC, 16 AWG fusible link wire assy to the ECU power lead
- Driver’s Side Negative Battery Cable Assy – 1/0 AWG (or 2/0 AWG or 3/0 AWG) ground cable to the block, 8 AWG ground cable
- Passenger Side Positive Battery Cable Assy – loomed 1/0 AWG (or 2/0 AWG or 3/0 AWG) Crossover Cable to connect battery positives, 4 AWG charge lead with integrated fusible link, dual 8 AWG grid heater solenoid leads with integrated fusible links
- Passenger Side Negative Battery Cable Assy – 1/0 AWG (or 2/0 AWG or 3/0 AWG) ground cable to the block, dual 8 AWG ground cables
- Boots to insulate positive connections

*2007-2009 Model Truck Owners – Please note that some 2007, 2008, and 2009 trucks have a 90-degree eyelet on the end of the OEM starter cable which bolts to the starter. If you own one, then we advise you to check this before ordering. If your cable kit requires this, then select 90-degree as the Starter Eyelet Type.

All cable is our super flexible tinned Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) Battery Cable terminated with our MEGA Eyelets and insulated with adhesive lined heat shrink.
Our 1/0 AWG Cable has 4,704 strands
Our 2/0 AWG Cable has 5,929 strands – 26% more copper!
Our 3/0 AWG Cable has 7,546 strands – 60% more copper than 1/0 AWG!

Stock Cable Sets vs Time
Corrosion and oxidation are major factors in why the cable sets in these trucks are due for replacement. One of the biggest factors is what happens between the negative cables to the engine block and the terminations themselves. We’ve got excellent photos of this from a Gen 1 Dodge Diesel Truck if you’d like to view them.

Purchased for my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 because I was sick and tired of trying to mess with the ends of my factory cables, plus the fusible links needed to be replaced and those were included in this upgrade kit. The 2/0 wire is very heavy duty over stock, and the flexibility is unmatched versus the stock cables.
The only downside I would say is no terminal covers included like other kits on the market for a similar price.
Didn’t change the star rating though, because this is a very nice kit.

installed this kit with the 2/0AWG on my 2008 Gen3 Cummins and it now starts like brand new. i cannot believe how much more torque the starter produces now. probably one of the best upgrades for the money. high quality cables. Pro Tip: use an 18mm 3/8ths stubby socket, swivel and extension with an impact gun to loosen the Starter’s negative terminal if yours is mounted to the frame.

Great kit! Super comprehensive and easy to install. Everything needed is included. Great company to work with. My battery was popping the top off and spraying acid everywhere due to a poor connection between the two batteries. It was causing all sorts of issues because of this. Installed this kit and all my problems went away! Kit looks great, the cabling is super pliable and easy to work with. All bolts and other fasteners are included and upgraded with the kit. Awesome!

Bought the standard 1/0 kit for my 04 Ram 3500. The factory cables/terminals were next to gone and in poor shape. This kit is incredible. This is the most complete kit I have come across. We bought a 2/0 kit for a 2006 Dodge Ram Mega Cab with the 5.9 Cummins. These cables are NICE! They’re as big around as nickel but SO flexible! You could EASILY tie them in a knot. It made routing them very easy. The kit came with everything we needed and completely took care of a “slow-crank” issue she’d been having. The only word of warning I have is regarding the military terminals. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE T. They’re not malleable like a lead terminal. They will crack if you try to tighten them too much. Make sure your terminal is seated as far down as it will go before tightening. Overall, this is a great kit.

Zach – spot on. Many battery manufacturers have reduced the height of the posts to save on lead. So, seating the terminal fully before tightening them is important. And like you say, we outline this fully in the supplied documentation.

I found that ordering from CE Auto Electric to be very easy. Tony called me personally to help me get everything I needed for my 2008 Dodge Ram diesel pick up. The kit that was sent was well thought out and very complete to the smallest component. Don’t go out and buy anything you think you may need before you go through kit. I upgraded to the 2.0 cable, well worth it. It wasn’t a real easy installation but very doable. Be careful not over tighten the battery cable clamps. After all was installed all worked properly without any problems. CE offers a great product at a fair price and excellent service.
