This is a complete replacement cable kit for the 2007.5-2010 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra Duramax Trucks with the LMM diesel engine (complete list below).  We did away with the silly OEM terminals in favor of some of our SUPER THICK Marine Style Terminals.  Our kit offers improved cranking power and performance over stock cables, especially worn out ones.

OEM Part# 20837883  Full specifications listed below.

Description

The factory cable sets leave lots to desire with thin wall terminals and lugs.  In addition, none of the terminations are insulated from the elements which causes them to break down over time.  Common problems with these trucks are decreased starting performance and grounding issues.  Our kits address both fully.

This Cable Kit is made to fit your truck perfectly from the following Components:

  • Super Thick Marine Style Battery Terminals – easily replaced without replacing the cable assy, should the need occur
  • 2 AWG CE Auto Electric Supply tinned Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) Battery Cable – 2,989 Strands
  • 4 AWG CE Auto Electric Supply tinned Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) Battery Cable for PDC Power Leads and Ground Strap upgrade – 1,862 Strands
  • 8 AWG CE Auto Electric Supply tinned Oxygen Free Copper (OFC) Battery Cable for Body Grounds – 735 Strands
  • Super Thick Tin Plated MEGA Eyelets
  • Large gauge terminations dressed in our Super Thick Adhesive Lined MEGA Heat Shrink
  • Small gauge terminations dressed in our Adhesive Lined Heat Shrink Tubing
  • Adhesive Lined Heat Shrink used to dress loom to cables

Kit includes the following cable assemblies:

  • Positive cable assembly – starter to batteries and to fuse block
  • Negative cable assembly, passenger side – battery negative to block and to frame
  • Negative cable assembly, driver’s side – battery negative to block

Includes a complete complement of hardware for a smooth installation.

Hands down, this is one of the best—and the only—prebuilt wiring kits available for my specific year, make, and model of truck. While the instructions are somewhat loosely described, they actually allow for a great deal of flexibility and control, giving you the freedom to find the best wiring solution for your setup.

During installation, I was able to use many OEM mounting points. On the passenger side, I mounted the wiring to the factory frame clip. On the driver side, I routed the wiring through the back of the power steering pump, which I had recently upgraded along with all the lines. I also reused the OEM upper oil pan plastic routing isolator. At the starter, I shaved down the lug slightly, routed the wires through the OEM location, and identified two potential rubbing points caused by the provided zip ties—both of which I was able to correct.

One important note: while the wires can be routed above the engine mount, they sit very close to the exhaust manifold in that position, which will likely cause heat damage over time.

Long story short, if your truck surges with a new alternator or has trouble starting in cold weather, the poorly designed stock cables are likely the issue. This company delivers an excellent solution. Their staff is honest, polite, and actually answers the phone. The kit is absolutely worth the price—only slightly above the cost of sourcing the supplies individually—and I can’t say enough good things about CE Auto Electric Supply.

I have a 2008 LMM with 240k on it that was having intense cold start issues in the cold (no start under 5 degrees unless plugged in). Eventually, the positive to the starter failed and nearly left me stranded. I stumbled on this kit and took the chance on it. Combined with a fresh starter, the truck now has all the cranking power needed and spins over like a new one. Can’t say enough good things about the quality of the kit and the buying experience. Night and day over the weak factory cables. Kit is almost completely plug and play but may require slight grinding on the starter terminals for clearance, depending on your application.
